The 12 buses, designated for auctioning at the MMT went missing from the company’s yard in Kumasi and has sparked agitations among workers of the transport company who have threatened to embark on an industrial action next week if the buses are not found and returned.
The workers believe some corrupt senior officers of the MMT sold the buses to private individuals without following due processes.
But Starr News’ Ashanti regional correspondent Isaac Bediako reports the police has located four of the buses at a private mechanic shop in Kumasi.
The police is yet to make an official statement on the intercepted buses.
Meanwhile, the committee set up to investigate the missing buses at the Metro Mass Transit Limited will complete its work in five days.
A member of the committee, Delali Kwaku Kuma, told Starr News the committee is working round the clock to come out with a credible report.
“The union has representation on the committee so we are working on coming out with something very credible. We are going to do a very diligent thorough work to arrive at the true facts of the issue.”
He however said the preliminary findings of the committee indicate that the missing buses were moved on a Sunday evening.
