Over 500 health workers to sue Better Ghana Management

Over 500 health promotion workers under the Better Ghana Management Services (GMS) in the Upper East region are threatening to take legal actions against the company over unpaid salaries.
The workers say after the termination of their appointments in March, the company has only paid three months out of the eight months outstanding arrears owed them.


The frustrated workers say efforts to get better management to pay them their outstanding arrears has not been successful.
According to Citi News Upper East Regional correspondent, Fred Awuni, “the workers have appealed to government to intervene within the shortest possible time or they will seek legal action against better management services.”
“They owed 8 months as of the time the contract was terminated that is March 2014, they came in May and paid us three months , still owing five months…If we don’t hear anything within the week, we will go on streets. If nothing is still said, we will seek legal action.We are pleading with the government to do something about it,” an aggrieved employee said.
“They told us they are going to clear everything. When we were supposed to go for the payment, it was only three weeks. So we don’t know whether the government is owing or the government,” another said.
The issue of non payment of salaries is a major issue that has been lingering for sometime now.
