GAC made a fool of me; used and dumped me – Dzidzor

The lady at the centre of the HIV/AIDS debacle has said she was used and dumped by the Ghana AIDS Commission.

Joyce Dzidzor Mensah claims the Commission made a fool of her after using her ambassadorial services for a year.

She claimed in an interview with Adom FM Tuesday that a branded car that the Commission said was dedicated to transporting the Ambassadors was never used for that purpose, thus leaving her and the other Ambassadors to their fate, as far as transportation was concerned.

The mother of two, who was one of three “heart-to-heart” Ambassadors of the Commission, said one of her colleagues, Rev John Azumah always lamented about the transportation situation.

She also cited instances where she never had the services of the branded car, even though she claimed the Ambassadors were assured by the Commission of the services of the vehicle.

Dzidzor Mensah, who shocked the entire country when she revealed to News-One on Monday that she never tested positive for HIV, even though she had been portrayed as a person living with the virus since 2012, also said she felt insulted by the Commission when her five-year contract was terminated after just a year of her engagement.

In her view, the Ghana AIDS Commission used her and dumped her.

The Commission, which issued a statement on Monday has said it will not dabble in recriminations with the former Ambassador whose contracted was terminated in 2012 after her engagement in 2011.

“She was terminated on grounds that were fully explained and formally communicated to her. She signed a contract with the Ghana AIDS Commission in August 2011. However, on the 12th of November, 2012 the Ghana AIDS Commission formally terminated the contract with Joyce Dzidzor Mensah on account of breach of her terms of contract.

“Unfortunately she failed to respond or engage with the Commission for full exit debrief. On a number of occasions, Joyce had failed to honour her duties related to the “Heart to Heart” Campaign after agreeing to honour those programmes; she failed to appear without prior notice to her colleagues or the coordinators of the campaign; she rather chose to use the time to pursue her personal interest such as a musical project within the first two years of the campaign; which was in breach of her contract,” the Ghana AIDS Commission said.
