President Mahama, who inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Kenyan Defence Force, will be a special guest at the 51st Independence anniversary celebrations of Kenya Friday, and meet with the Ghanaian community in the East African country.
Mahama and his host President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Saturday hold bilateral talks in the State House and together preside over bilateral talks between the two countries. The visit is also aimed at rekindling “the fraternal bond and relations” between his father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah – Ghana’s first president.
Discussions between the two African leaders is expected to focus on how Ghana and Kenya, both bulwarks in West and East Africa respectively, can influence a new agenda of increased trade among African countries, a statement from the Flagstaff House said.
President Mahama, chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and President Kenyetta, chair of the East African Community (EAC) will also share their perspectives on how to drive the African renaissance and integration process.
