Sue HIV/AIDS ambassador – Lawyer demands

joy

A Private legal Practitioner, Nana Akwasi Awuah is asking government to sue a former HIV/AIDS ambassador Joyce Dzidzor Mensah for deceiving Ghanaians for years.
Joyce Mensah in a shocking revelation said she lied about her HIV status despite parading as a carrier for several years.
Despite apologizing to Ghanaians for the deception, she insisted that her action was “worth it” because a lot of lives have been saved through her advocacy work.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Lawyer Awuah said Joyce should be prosecuted since her action “on the criminal law aspect…constitutes fraudulent misrepresentation.”

“You represent a state of fact and you know that it’s false or you make it so recklessly that you yourself you don’t believe in what you have said or represented.”

According to him, the law suit will reveal full facts of the circumstances surrounding  the development.
The Ghana AIDS Commission has however stated that the former HIV/AIDS ambassador in 2007 tested positive for HIV.

The Commission has also indicated that it has a documented evidence of her HIV status at the various health centres where she and other ambassadors went for treatment.

“She signed a contract with the Ghana AIDS Commission in August 2011. However, on the 12th of November, 2012 the Ghana AIDS Commission formally terminated the contract with Joyce Dzidzor Mensah on account of breach of her terms of contract,” the Commission added.
